HELIODORUS OF ALEXANDRIA (fl. late 5th century AD, d.509)

Life
Heliodorus, the son of Hermias and the younger brother of Ammonius, was a neo-Platonist who studied in Alexandria and made a series of astronomical observations (498-509 AD).


Work
His principal writings (extant only in fragments) are:

"On the teaching of astronomy"

"Commentary on the Introduction to Astronomy" written by Paul of Alexandria (4th century AD).

"Introduction to the Almagest": Part of a book entitled "Commentaries of Theon and other scholars and mathematicians on the work of Ptolemy".
